Fox frowned, keeping his hands pinned over his eyes. “Guys is this really necessary?” He mumbled.

“You can’t look.” Jimmy growled shuffling about. Smokes started to respond but let out a grunt in pain, stubbing his toe. “Are you okay?”

“Piss off! WHO PUT THIS ROCK HERE!” Smokes huffed heavily. His anger fading as Fox laughed.

“It’s a headstone Smokes. The gravedigger put it there.” Jimmy gave him a confused glance.

“Yea well… it’s a stupid rock…” Smokes continued his low grumble. He limped his way over to Fox sitting in the grass. Snickering as he gave his brothers ears a good tug. “You can open your eyes now dork.”

Fox rolled his head out of Smokes grip and dropped his hands. Sitting on a blanket in front of him were many boxes. A cake in a plastic tin from the grocery store and lots and lots of candy.

“Happy Birthday!” Jimmy cheered, throwing both hands in the air before dropping to the grass. Crossing his legs and eagerly putting his chin in his hands, staring at Fox wide eyed.

“Woah you guys did this for me?” Fox blushed almost, staring at the many gifts presented in front of him.

“Who do you think we did it for dork.” Smokes gave his hair a hard ruffle before walking back by Jimmy. Leaning against a mausoleum they used as shelter. “And we paid for almost half of them.”

“No way!” Fox gave a gasp, pretending to be shocked. Smokes just shrugged his shoulders, giving a puff of happy smoke through his smile.

“Look look! Open this one first!” Jimmy put the biggest newspaper wrapped package in his hands. “I got this one myself.”

Fox carefully took the poorly wrapped box, tearing through 2, 3, 4, 5 layers of newspaper before revealing the contents. His eyes wide with glee and he hugged it close. “A LAVA LAMP!”

“And this one’s purple! Cause you got the red and the green.” Jimmy gave a proud smile, handing over more gifts.

The Birthday boy opened all of his presents. Most were versions of Lava lamps, a few useful tools like screwdrivers and wrenches, and a barbie Smokes tossed in cause he thought it would be funny. But of course Fox would never let a good gag gift go unused. Making jokes with his new ‘girlfriend’. Finally it was time for cake.

“No candles?” Fox teased, taking the lid off the container.

“Oh I forgot.” Jimmy pouted. “I’m sorry…”

“Let me put my face in the cake, and you can pretend my smoke is the candles.” Smokes laughed, trying to shove his cheek into the cake. Jimmy quickly pushed both hands over his vents and pushed him back. He pretended to tumble, falling back in the grass. “Oh no Jimmy how could you!”

“I paid for this cake! You can’t ruin it!” For once Smokes was the joker and Jimmy was serious!

“Its great Jimmy.” Fox gave him a pat on the shoulder. His younger brother turned, eyes wide and beaming.

“Yea? You like it?”

“Of course. I love it….” He smiled, looking to each of their faces. His heart bursting with happiness, trying his hardest not to show just how much.

“Well… we don’t have candles but you can pretend. Close your eyes and make a wish. And then blow out the candles.” Jimmy pushed the cake closer.

“Ah it’s okay Jimmy.” He continued that smile, curling to one side. “I think I already got it…”

His brothers looked at him for a few moments before Smokes scoffed. “That is so cheesy….. oh my god…” He sat up, and gave Fox’s ears a good tug. “I….” He paused and turned his head away. “I…” He paused again, his face scrunching up in what almost looked like pain. “I luuuuur….”

“I love you man!” Jimmy blurted, trying to help out. “Happy Birthday!”

“Yea what Jimmy said.” Smokes let out a sigh of relief. “Now can we eat cake?… I’m starving.”

Fox laughed, holding his lava lamp close. The smile not breaking from his face all day. “I love ya guys too.”
